World’s 1st rear window curtain shield airbag

Rear window curtain shield airbag

Toyota has developed the world’s first SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) rear window curtain shield airbag to protect rear passengers’ heads in the event of a rear-end collision.

"The airbag deploys from the roof lining above the rear window in the form of a curtain-like barrier. Together with the headrests, the airbag minimizes impact to the head from a colliding vehicle or parts of the hit vehicle, thus helping to reduce the severity of injuries."

If you've been paying attention to Toyota news you'll also be aware of other available collision safety technologies - resulting in such achievements as the swift market introduction of SRS curtain shield and knee airbags - to enable its vehicles to better respond to a greater range of accidents.

Just one more way that Toyota = safety :)

Great Idea.... SRS Airbags save tons of lives every year and anything they can do to improve technology and save even more.. I'm all for it!!
I KNOW MORE THAN MOST ABOUT AIR BAGS. I sell them everyday and I have heard sooo many times that airbags have saved someone's life and how glad they are to have airbags in their car.

Toyota as Salesman

1. Toyota does not lead in automobile safety, that would be the Volvo, Merc, Saab and BMW.

2. Toyota leads in ’some’ reliability surveys, while even Ford matches Toyota in the US on some of these surveys.
