Toyota Corolla at a Glance
The Toyota Corolla name has become synonymous with safety, superb quality and reliability. Four decades after its inception this trend has continued with the all-new tenth generation Corolla.
At an initial glance, one may notice that the car's build is lower and wider than its predecessor. This gives it an overall bold but sophisticated look. It also looks highly polished; clean and sleek, giving it a refined classy feel. The exterior's level of refinement is further reflected in the car's spacious, luxurious interior. Impressive modern technologies include keyless entry and the ability to start the engine at a touch of the Smart Start Button; features which not only have a technologically 'cool factor' but are also convenient. The car is available in 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 petrol models as well as 2.0 diesel in a variety of exquisite metallic colours.
With a 5-star NCAP safety rating, taking a business trip or road trip with your loved ones to your favourite destination gives you a peace of mind. Good looks, and great technology coupled with outstanding legendary features we've come to expect of Toyota makes the Corolla the perfect travel companion. It's no wonder that the Corolla is the best-selling car of all time.
Book a Test Drive, Book an experience and Win
To learn of all the outstanding feature is one thing, having first-hand experience is better, especially when you stand a chance to win one of many prizes including this remarkable sedan for doing so! The test drive competition closes on the 17th of October 2007 so be sure to act with speed.

Petrol
Could some one please provide me the petrol consumption for the Corolla. Why has it not been official as yet? Whats the secret?
Re: Petrol
Have to agree. It's frustrating that this info doesn't seem to be anywhere on the official Toyota website. I'm looking at every other car in this price range and trying to compare some vital stats based on web research to narrow down the field. Every other manufacturer in the R150000-R200000 price range that I've looked at, which must be at least 10, publishes fuel consumption figures on the official website. I'm not going to go into all the dealers to pick up brochures. I'm specifically going through this process first to avoid that BS.
Interestingly the Toyota site (specifications page) is also the only one that doesn't work in Firefox. If I wasn't such a big Toyota fan I would have disqualified the Corolla by now :-) i guess I'll get that brochure after all.
Re: Petrol
Hi Anton
Did you get any luck from getting this information from the Corolla brochures? I have the broucher and it do's not include this info. I also had a look at the website under detail specification and the site exclude's infor... Boet, what car have you bought? This is what one motering website had to say >>>>The 1.6-litre engine has variable valve timing on each cam, is rated at 91kW/6000rpm and 157Nm/5200, thrives on revs, and used 8.2 litres/100km on the launch drive.
Btw i am also a TOYOTA fan...
Re: Petrol
Hi HitZ,
The information you require is located on page 19 of the Corolla brochure in the Advanced Engine Technology section. This same information has been summarised by James Smith in an earlier comment. People drive differently, in different settings and in different conditions. The fuel consumption data in the brochure was obtained from Toyota Australia and Toyota Europe so slight variations can be expected. Please let me know if you need further clarity.

Fuel (Diesel) Consumption
I received my D4D Excl on Sept 13 th. I have already done 3000 km with the car. My avg consumption is between 5.5 and 6 l/100 km, mostly in the day with a/c on. This includes driving in city (Durban) and freeway combined. And with all that torque I don't hang around either.
Re: Fuel (Diesel) Consumption
Any idea about the Petrol....The corolla 1.6 specifically.
Re: Fuel (Diesel) Consumption
The figures for the 1.6 suggest that it sits around 6.9 L/100km, conflicting to that the figures quoted in the Cars in Action(Nov07) magazine suggesting it to be around 7.1 L/100km.
Fuel Consumption Figures
Hi HiTz
I’m sure that by visiting any dealership they will gladly assist you by providing you with one of the stylish new Corolla brochures, which give a break down of the fuel consumption.
But below find a few quick figures as per the brochure.
** 1.4 VVT-i : 6.7 L/100km for MT
** 1.6 Dual VVT-i : 6.9 L/100km for MT and 6.7 L/100km for M-MT
* 1.8 Dual VVT-I : 7.3 L/100km for MT and 7.4 L/100km for AT
** 2.0 D-4D : 5.3 L/100km for MT
* Toyota Australia: Source of fuel consumption data [ADR81/01 combined cycle] ** Toyota Europe: Source of fuel consumption data [EU directive 70/220/EEC]
Hope this helps :-)

Love Toyota Corolla
The Toyota Corolla is a car that gets better, and usually bigger, with each generation -a phenomenon that has resulted in Toyota OEM proudly touting the "soul of Corolla" it says permeates through the company's entire lineup -but this time around, designers were also presented with the challenge of creating a "five-metre" sensory experience for the car.
