Space and storage in the new Corolla

When you first climb into the new Corolla you may notice that it has more space than its predecessors. They've made it wider and is now 1,760 mm which means that passengers in the backseat can sit more comfortably. It's also longer at 4,540 mm which allows for increased legroom. This car also has unique flat rear floor, i.e. no irritating bump in the middle to get in the way of rear passengers' feet. Rear seats have a 60/40 split with folding mechanism. When taking long-distance trips in sunny South Africa with your whole family these things start to matter.

There are several storage well-placed compartments in this vehicle. One is the overhead compartment which you open by pressing on it clearly and in a fluid motion it drops down to expose space which I presume could be used to store spectacles. The glove compartment has two openings; one opens downwards and the other, up. Cup holders are also present. There is even more storage in the center armrest, which has a lid, and not forgetting those convenient seatback and door pockets.

Many of us pack clothes and equipment to fit every possible scenario. What if we get snowed in? Or, what if we get invited to a fancy dinner? Either way, the all-new Corolla is accommodating in this regard. The boot space is huge at 470 litres. Bulging luggage won't need to be forcefully manipulated into impossible spaces. Even Festive season shopping won't be a problem to carry back home.

With so much storage while still retaining a high level of comfort, taking a holiday starts right from when you get in the car and not just when you get to the destination.
