Come and join Toyota at the Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) on free-to-public days, Saturday 01 - Sunday 02 and Saturday 08 - Sunday 09 November.

The new flagship Toyota Yaris TS, with the latest generation all aluminium 1,8 litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, is on display at the show. Also to be seen are the 3 new additions to the Hilux Raider range.

This annual Castrol Extreme Auto show took place this past weekend at the Coca Cola Dome. We went on the last day of this fascinating show to find all kinds of cars from the classics to the souped-up to the super cars.

There weren't as many people in attendance as one would expect but I guess on long weekends, many people make that much-needed weekend getaway. Regardless, it seems that there was general excitement all around. The main competition garnered quite a bit of interest - they were giving away a highly-modded Subaru WRX supposedly valued at R690,000. I would have entered myself were it not for the R100 entry requirement.

The Toyota Corolla (Sprinter) you see in the main picture is presumably modded by Toy Boyz and it was surrounded by a bunch of trophies. I would have asked for the story behind them had there been a person to ask while we were there. Nonetheless, the rims are quite cool and suit the car quite nicely.  read more »

The Loxion Motorshow, Soweto's first ever motorshow is on right now at Maponya Mall until the 8th of June. There are more than 20 car brands on display and an expected 11,000 visitors. You can catch the Corolla's baby brother, the Auris at the Toyota stand along with the rarely seen Auris S2000 car.

The Nedbank Gauteng Motor Show takes place this weekend (26 - 28 April) at Kyalami, Midrand. This will be its 5th running year with the last one having had more than 40,000 attendees in two days.

Some of what you can expect this year are car and bike showcases (latest, used and vintage) from various manufacturers, Classic Cars, Race Culture (where "individual cars chosen to come and show off and have a contest"), trucking, caravans & trailers, boats, sound-offs and more.
